Oil platforms that are in the middle of the sea have two ways of transporting the oil to land, depending on how far it is from land. If it’s close enough (or there is enough oil and money), the best way is by underwater pipelines that connect directly to a refinery on land. While the cost is high, the risk is lower. The second way of transporting is via oil tankers. Empty tankers sail to the oil platform, get filled up with oil, and sail back to land. However, this is riskier as (1) sea water can get rough and a ship hitting an oil platform is probably the worst thing that could happen to the platform. (2) The oil tankers are susceptible to sea pirates hijacking the ship, among other risks.
Czyli albo rurociągiem albo tankowcami.
