The Collapse - I first arrived in Moscow in the spring of 1990 after covering the fall of the Berlin Wall, Czechoslovakia's Velvet revolution and the aftermath of the Ceausescu era in Romania the previous year. The collapse of communist regimes across Eastern Europe was a reversal of the 'domino theory', the Cold War term for the perceived threat of communism spreading across S.E. Asia.
