152 cats lined up to audition for a role in The Tale of Terrors (1962). It turned out the role had already been given to a ‘professional’ cat, so none of these cats were given the role. Photographed by Ralph Crane for LIFE magazine, it was written, “as far as anyone could remember, it was the biggest invitation to bad luck ever seen in one place.”
