@SuperSzturmowiec I am probably a little bit late here, but I will share my experience with chaning font as well. It's actually pretty easy with that program which was already mentioned here, with the "Risen - Custom Font Installer". You just need to download it, for example from here:

You don't even have to install it, just extract the downloaded .rar file using your favorite archiver program (eg. WinRar, 7-zip, total commander, whatever...) and you will get this file:

Custom_Font_Inst.exe

Now go to the "C:\Windows\Fonts", where you will see A LOT of font files (if you are using classic Windows Explorer and you are on Vista/7/8/10 (or newer at the time you are reading this), you will probably see these files in groups - in that case just twice click on them and you will see specific version files for that font (regular, italic, bold, etc.). Every one can be used for Risen, so for example if you want to have italic font in-game, copy italic version of that font you want to use.

I personally recommend to go with the Calibri > "Calibri Bold" font, which is the default font (in regular version of course) for Microsoft Office program such Word, Outlook or PowerPoint for presentations. It's simple, it's bold, it's nicely readable.

Since Calibri Bold in default uses weight of the font at least 600 units, it should be definitely thick enough to read on 4K displays - although I can only presume that, since I personally I am using "only" 1080p@15,6" display, but it's great for me.

So simply select some font file, press Control+C combination to copy it to the clipboard, then navigate to folder where you donwloaded the Risen font changer, paste the font there (press Control+V together), then run the program, select that font file you wish to use (the font you just copied) and press "Install into game". That's it - you should be presented with dialog saying something like "font is already installed", that means that the font was successfully installed into the game. Just quit the font changer program and run Risen.
