Fight Club cost 20th Century Fox sixty five million dollars, insults everyone who paid for it, and ends by blowing up the studio's own headquarters.
Nobody there can explain how it got approved. The novel had been printed in ten thousand copies, half of them scheduled for the pulper. Chuck Palahniuk wrote it out of revenge, after publishers told him his work had no shelf to sit on.
Brad Pitt had his teeth chipped for the part. Meat Loaf wore forty four pounds of birdseed. The punches you hear are chickens stuffed with walnuts. And one line survived only because David Fincher made the studio agree to it before he shot it.
It flopped in theaters. Then it became one of the most profitable products Fox has ever sold.
