Have you watched the Netflix film 'True Spirit' yet about Jessica Watson, a 16 year old Australian girl who is the youngest person to sail solo and unassisted around the world.
We are in the Gold Coast and saw this boat in the storage yard. Its the movie boat used for the Netflix film, Jessica Watson's reallife boat is in the maritime museum. Amazing what she did at 16 years of age

Film opublikowany przez Agencję Morską i Straży Przybrzeżnej pokazuje dramatyczną akcję ratunkową czteroosobowej załogi, która wezwała pomoc po wylądowaniu na skałach u wybrzeży Land's End wieczorem (14 lutego). Czteroosobowa załoga, podobno wszyscy obywatele Holandii, została zmuszona do wezwania Mayday i opuszczenia statku, a następnie uciekła w tratwie ratunkowej zabranej z ich dotkniętego statku, którym według doniesień był belgijski trawler rybacki Sylvia-Mary.
Na filmie widzimy, jak jej rufa wygląda niebezpiecznie nisko na wzburzonym morzu, gdy łódź nabiera wody i szybko tonie, podczas gdy tratwa ratunkowa – wyraźnie widoczna po prawej stronie filmu – jest obsługiwana przez mniejszą łódź dzięki uprzejmości Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI), który odpowiedział na wezwanie Straży Przybrzeżnej.

The German freighter ғʀᴀɴκᴇɴwᴀʟᴅ was built in steel in Hamburg in 1922 and is a full 122 meters long. On 6 January 1940, ғʀᴀɴκᴇɴwᴀʟᴅ was caught in a тʀᴇᴀcнᴇʀous cuʀʀᴇɴт on the Norwegian west coast. With a deafening noise, German steel met Norwegian rock, and ship and cargo was lost. All that's left now is a sнιᴘwʀᴇcκ.

"The First Swedish Expedition to Antarctica 1901-1904. Motif of a boat on the open sea". That is the caption for this photograph (here shown restored and colorized by me) in the Swedish Museum of Technology archive. The photo, probably shot from the expedition´s base ship the Antarctic, comes from the Nordenskjöld family. No other information is available.
The First Swedish Expedition to Antarctica was led by Otto Nordenskjöld (1869 - 1928), a geographer, geologist and explorer of Finland-Swedish descent. (The polar explorer Adolf Erik Nordenskiöld was his maternal uncle.)

New Zeland frigate HMNZS Te Mana has rescued a sailor from a catamaran in distress during Cyclone Gabrielle.
The man was rescued by our personnel on a small boat (RHIB) launched from Te Mana, while crew on a Northland Rescue Helicopter provided overwatch for the safety of all involved.
“We’re very pleased this joint search and rescue has been successful and the person is now safe on board Te Mana.” ~ Maritime Component Commander Commodore Garin Golding.

@SUQ-MADIQ Jest i rozdział o toaletach na łódkach. XXI wiek a Polaków trzeba uczyć jak korzystać z toalet. Bo koszt ekomariny to dwie zgrzewki Harnasia i nic się nie stanie jak się zesram do jeziora. Przynajmniej rybki dokarmiam, bo wiadomo że karasie jedzo guwno( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

The world's first Cruise Liner 🛳 constructed by the ancient Greek Archimedes.
Archimedes (287-212 BCE) was a Greek mathematician and mechanical engineer, a pioneer in both fields, many centuries ahead of his contemporaries.
In Sicily, under the ruling of the king Hiero II of Syracuse (270 – 215 BCE), a ship with stunning dimensions was built. The material used for the construction of that giant boat equated to the material for 60 regular ships. What was more, that vessel was meant to leave the secure coastal lanes and to cross the Mediterranean Sea. The ship was given a name – Syracusia – and represented what could be called “the first liner of antiquity.”
