Basing in Classic Fantasy Battles

Today we're starting a new series to introduce you to our upcoming Classic Fantasy Battles game. As the Orc Horde prepares to ship out to you, we thought it would be helpful to know how your armies can be based. Our 40mm x 20mm dual use bases are also included in the box. A standard CFB infantry unit is made up of nine 40mm x 20mm bases in three rows of three like so: You can assemble infantry bases in two ways: Mixed Troops: Bases can include any combination of archers, heavy infantry, spearmen, etc. and are considered the most basic infantry types. Dedicated Troops: Bases include only one troop type (e.g., all archers) and represent only that specific troop type. Building Your Army If you're not concerned with specific battlefield roles, you can assemble your units with any mix of models. Simply arrange nine bases in three rows of three to create a viable unit. However, if you want to customize your army and create units with specific roles, you can upgrade each row of three bases within a standard infantry unit. For example, one row could be archers, another row could be heavy infantry, and the last row could be spearmen. You can even upgrade every row to the same troop type, creating a specialized unit. Upgrading Your Units Upgrading units from basic troop types will cost you more points, but it will make them more effective in specific roles. While there's nothing wrong with fielding units of basic troops, upgrading your units can give you a strategic advantage. Models Per Base The figure boxes have been designed to allow for 12 infantry models per 40mm x 20mm base. They fit six across in two rows. There is actually room on the base to do three rows of six if you want to achieve that truly GRAND BATTLE look! We also include casualty figures for those who want to be more creative with their base designs. Ultimately the number of figures you put on each base is up to you!
