A Brief History and Origin of Drum and Bass | Voltage Labs
Before Drum & Bass became a global genre, it was an underground movement built on pirate radio, dubplates, soundsystem culture, and relentless experimentation.
Its roots stretch from Jamaican dub and UK rave culture to jungle, before evolving into the countless styles we know today.
More than 30 years later, the genre continues to reinvent itself while staying true to the ideas that shaped it from the beginning: innovation, community, and bass.
